FPV Drone Frames

The frame is the skeleton of your drone — the foundation that holds all components together, from motors and ESCs to the flight controller and battery. It defines the drone’s size, shape, durability, and weight. Choosing the right frame affects flight performance, handling, and crash resistance. Our frames are designed to be 3D printed, giving you flexibility in material choice and easy access to the design files for customization or repair.

Key Features to Know About Frames

Size and Wheelbase

The distance between motor mounts, usually measured in millimeters (e.g., 250mm). Larger frames offer stability and room for bigger batteries but may be less agile.

Material

Frames can be made from carbon fiber, PLA+, PETG-carbon fiber, or other materials. Each offers different strength, weight, and flexibility properties affecting durability and flight feel.

Weight

Heavier frames tend to be more durable but reduce flight time and agility. Lightweight frames improve responsiveness but may sacrifice crash resistance.

Modularity and Repairability

Frames with replaceable arms or modular parts simplify repairs after crashes and can extend your drone’s lifespan.

Mounting Compatibility

Check that your frame supports your motors, flight controller, battery size, and camera setup. Standard mounting patterns make upgrades easier.

Deep Dive

3D Printed Frame Benefits

Our frames are designed for 3D printing, allowing you to print with your choice of filament, including PLA+, PETG-carbon fiber blends, or any filament you prefer at home. This flexibility enables cost savings, easy replacement parts, and customization. 3D printing also allows quick iteration on designs tailored to your needs.

Material Considerations: PLA+ vs PETG-Carbon Fiber

PLA+ is easy to print and offers good stiffness but is more brittle and less heat resistant. PETG-carbon fiber blends add toughness, heat resistance, and rigidity, making them better suited for durable frames that endure crashes. Tip: Use PETG-carbon fiber for your main structural parts and PLA+ for non-load-bearing components to balance durability and ease of printing.

Carbon Fiber Frames: The Industry Standard

Traditional carbon fiber frames are lightweight, extremely rigid, and highly crash-resistant. They excel at reducing vibrations but are more expensive and less accessible for home customization compared to 3D printed options.

Frame Weight and Flight Characteristics

Heavier frames provide stability in windy conditions and carry larger batteries but reduce agility and flight time. Lighter frames enhance maneuverability and responsiveness but may suffer damage more easily during crashes.

Design and Aerodynamics

Frame shape affects airflow and drag, influencing top speed and battery efficiency. Sleek, aerodynamic designs minimize drag for longer flights and smoother handling.

Mounting and Compatibility

Ensure your frame supports standard mounting holes for motors, flight controllers, cameras, and batteries. Compatibility eases upgrades and component swaps without needing custom adapters.

Crash Repair and Modularity

Frames designed with modular arms or replaceable parts let you swap damaged sections instead of replacing the entire frame — saving time and money. 3D printed frames can be reprinted quickly for repairs or modifications.

Thermal Management

Frames also impact cooling by affecting airflow around ESCs, flight controllers, and motors. Good ventilation helps maintain component lifespan and performance.

What We Offer

PLA+

Easy to print with good stiffness and surface finish. Best for prototypes or lightweight frames not exposed to high heat or heavy impacts.

PETG-Carbon Fiber

A blend of PETG plastic and carbon fiber strands offering enhanced strength, heat resistance, and rigidity. Ideal for durable frames that withstand crashes and stress.

Custom Filaments

You can print the frame yourself in any filament you prefer. We provide all 3D model files with your purchase for full customization and repair freedom.
